June 2nd is my birthday, and I'm not being quiet about it.

Here's the truth: this birthday feels different. I'm not just adding a candle to the cake, I'm stepping into a genuinely new chapter. A new perspective has settled in on who I am, what I'm building, and what the rest of 2026 is going to look like. The vision is clearer. The energy is higher. And the work? It's never been more aligned with my purpose.

So naturally, I want to celebrate with the people who get it, and that's you.

Here's what's on the agenda right after I blow out the candles:

🔥 Hot Entrepreneurship Summer Kickoff

Thursday, June 11 · 11:00 AM
Recity · Durham, NC  www.luma.com/giveitgetit

This is how we open the summer: in person, in community, in full business mode. The Hot Entrepreneur Summer Series is here and we are hitting the ground running. Come ready to connect, strategize, and set the tone for a season of serious moves. Light refreshments, big energy, and real conversations about where you're taking your business this summer. This is the room you want to be in.

📍 All Access Triad Small Business Summit

Saturday, June 13 · Alamance Community College
Haw River, NC · www.luma.com/giveitgetit

Two days after the kickoff, we take it to the Triad. The All Access Triad Small Business Summit is a full-day experience designed to equip, connect, and empower entrepreneurs and small business owners across the region. Multiple tracks, real resources, and the kind of room where connections become contracts. Bring your team. Bring your cards. Come equipped to go home unstoppable.

Both events are part of a bigger season of programming I'm building out — and there is a lot more coming between now and December. If you want to stay in the loop on everything, registration for upcoming events lives at:

Bookmark it. Share it. Make it your homepage if you have to. That's where all the good stuff lives.

Now....back to this birthday. I'm choosing to treat June 2nd as a reset, not just a milestone. New year, new perspective, full accountability for what I said I would do. If you've been thinking about showing up, this is your sign. If you've been waiting for the right time to get serious about your business, that time is now.

I'll see you at Recity on June 11. Come celebrate with me, Durham County Commissioner Michelle Burton, The Give It Get It Business Membership and you.Let's get to work.

With love, strategy, and a slice of cake,

If you haven’t already, take a moment to watch our recent feature on PBS Black Issues Forum. It’s a powerful conversation about where we are and where we’re going—and it sets the tone for everything we’re building in 2026.

This is our Year of Influence.

At Give It To The People®, we are intentionally shifting how we show up to create deeper, more meaningful impact. That means expanding access, strengthening relationships, and making sure our members, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneur service organizations are not just seen—but connected.

Connected to city leaders.
Connected to county decision-makers.
Connected to state representatives.
Connected to ministry and community voices shaping real change.

Because when we are in the right rooms—and recognized in those rooms—our collective reach multiplies.

That’s exactly why the NC Legacy Awards matters.

This is not just an event. This is a moment of alignment.

With endorsements and support from leaders such as Former Governor Roy Cooper, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, Mayor Leonardo Williams, Mayor Pro Tem Stormie Forte, NC House Representative Zack Hawkins, NC Senate Member Natalie Murdock, County Commissioner Michelle Burton, Judges Doretta Walker and Myra Griffin, along with Bishop Ronald Godbee and Pastor Nathaniel Davis of NOW Church—this room is filled with influence, intention, and impact.

And yes—we’re proud of that. Because it reflects the trust, credibility, and work we’ve consistently delivered in our community.

Now it’s time to bring it all together.

This is your opportunity to be in a space where business meets policy, community meets leadership, and ideas turn into action.

We believe this is the moment for unification across North Carolina—to elevate conversations, increase awareness, and shape an environment that benefits all of us.

And we want you in the room.

This event also serves as a fundraiser to relaunch our nonprofit, allowing us to bring more awareness to politics and business in a way that is engaging, accessible, and yes—actually enjoyable.

Here’s how you can be part of it:

  • Attend the NC Legacy Awards

  • Share this with someone who needs to be in this room

  • Donate a ticket for someone else

  • Sponsor and align your brand with this movement

If you’re ready to connect, collaborate, and contribute—this is your invitation.

Let’s be clear—
Influence isn’t coming. It’s here. And we’re building it together.
