Black excellence does not celebrate itself, that is our job!

For five years, Give It To The People® has been dedicated to building spaces where Black business owners, community leaders, and change-makers are seen, supported, and celebrated. The inaugural BLK BIZ Brunch Community Recognition Awards are an extension of that mission, a formal opportunity for our community to stop, look around, and honor the people who have been doing the work quietly, consistently, and powerfully.

This is your chance to give someone their flowers while they can still smell them.

We are calling on the community to nominate the business owners, elected officials, Divine Nine members, community leaders, and organizational champions across North Carolina who deserve to be recognized in front of a room full of their peers on August 15, 2026.

Here is what you need to know:

📋 Nominations Open: July 7 – July 21, 2026

🗳️ Community Voting: July 22 – August 8, 2026

🏆 Awards Presented: August 15, 2026, at BLK BIZ Brunch

📍 Location: ReCity | 113 Broadway Street, Durham, NC 27701

🕚 Event Time: 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM

You may self-nominate and you may nominate more than one person. Every nomination is an act of community investment — and we take each one seriously.

Winners will be announced and celebrated live at the BLK BIZ Brunch on August 15th in front of an audience of Black business owners, Divine Nine members, elected officials, and community leaders from across North Carolina.
