WHY WE SUPPORT BUSINESS SERVICE ORGANIZATONS?
At Give It To The People, our commitment to supporting business service organizations stems from over a decade of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the impact these organizations have on North Carolina's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Chief Curator Chisa Pennix-Brown brings 12 years of dedication to the Small Business Center Network and has collaborated with respected partners such as the NC Rural Center, Piedmont Business Capital, Carolina Small Business Development, SCORE, Triad Association of Black Journalists, Guilford Nonprofit Consortium, Guilford Merchant’s Association, and the Carteret Chamber of Commerce. Chisa's extensive network also includes valued partnerships with the Durham County Library, Forward Cities, Black Wall Street Forward, Being & Becoming, Infinity Bridges, NC Central University, Innovate Chapel Hill, City of Durham, Durham County, and the Town of Carrboro, among many others.
Our work focuses on bolstering these organizations to enhance their support for diverse business owners, particularly those from underserved communities. By providing technical assistance, tailored resources, and professional development training, we strive to empower these essential organizations to extend their reach, strengthen their capacity, and amplify their ability to foster sustainable business growth.
Supporting the backbone of our entrepreneurial landscape isn’t just our mission—it’s our passion. Through our collaborative efforts, we ensure that business service organizations can continue to be a reliable resource, a catalyst for innovation, and a pillar of support for North Carolina's entrepreneurs.
BUSINESS SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS
Business Support Organizations (BSOs) are entities that provide various forms of assistance, guidance, and resources to businesses with the aim of helping them thrive and succeed. These organizations play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of businesses across different industries.
WHY BSOs ARE IMPORTANT?
-
Resources and Information: BSOs often offer valuable resources and information to businesses. This can include market research, industry trends, and data that can help businesses make informed decisions.
-
Networking Opportunities: BSOs provide a platform for businesses to connect and network with other industry players, potential clients, investors, and partners. Networking is essential for business growth, and BSOs create environments where these connections can be fostered.
-
Training and Education: Many BSOs offer training programs, workshops, and educational resources to help businesses enhance their skills and knowledge. This can be particularly beneficial for startups and small businesses looking to improve their operations.
-
Access to Funding: BSOs often assist businesses in finding funding opportunities, whether through grants, loans, or investment. They may also connect businesses with financial institutions or investors interested in supporting promising ventures.
-
Policy Advocacy: BSOs can advocate for policies that benefit businesses at local, regional, or national levels. They may engage with government bodies to address regulatory issues, create a more business-friendly environment, and advocate for the interests of their members.
-
Market Expansion: For businesses looking to expand into new markets, BSOs can provide valuable insights, contacts, and support. This is especially important for international business development.
-
Support for Innovation: BSOs can foster innovation by providing access to research and development resources, promoting collaboration between businesses and research institutions, and offering guidance on adopting new technologies.
-
Problem Solving: Businesses often face challenges, and BSOs can serve as a resource for problem-solving. Whether it's navigating regulatory issues, resolving disputes, or addressing operational challenges, BSOs can offer guidance and support.
